India is a country that is well entrenched in its age-old culture and belief. Here, traditions last for millenniums and the hold of the past on the present is as tangible as it could ever be. Indian wedding cards are a reflection of all that Indian weddings are - colorful, luxurious and stunning. No expense is spared to bring about a design that steals the breath away. There is a reason for this. For Indians, a wedding is the coming together of two families, not just two individuals. Therefore, the event is accompanied by festivities on a large scale. There are much singing and eating, for the ladies, they dress themselves up beautifully, and men also make an effort to wear their best. So, it is little wonder that Indian wedding cards are full of color to give a better attraction. The most popular colors used include gold, red, cream, green and saffron. These colors are used since they signify opulence, love, passion and fertility.

Wedding card designs are elaborate and often have traditional motifs and themes. While some are religious in nature, others may be artistic. One conventional art is the Mughal art.

In keeping with the Indian culture, Indian wedding cards are richly adorned, and they could contain counterfeit gemstones and golden tassels to enhance their beauty. A gemstone is a mineral crystal which is cut and polished and is used in making jewelry and adornment.

Indian wedding cards have evolved to a certain degree of efficiency and expertise that the cards contain all the required information needed for guests to attend the wedding. Indian wedding card provides some information about the families of the bride and groom. The cards also state the time and venue of the wedding.

Designing the card is as important as the way in which the card is delivered. It being an event for family and close friends, invites are distributed by hand. Sometimes, invitation cards are accompanied by sweets. If people live far away, the same is sent by email or post.
